Walking through distorted Sonic levels drives Sonic.EXE - The Original Game, where familiar worlds decay and unease grows without warning.

Game Overview

Sonic.EXE - The Original Game is a fan-made psychological horror game that recreates the familiar Sonic world in a distorted and unstable way. The game opens with seemingly familiar areas, but quickly shows signs of abnormality. The initial environment is quiet and lifeless, then gradually animals appear, and visual and sound effects become distorted. The world doesn't collapse immediately but disintegrates step by step, making the player realize that everything is going wrong but there's no way to return to the original state.

Three Characters, Three Escalating Scenarios

Players take turns controlling Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman, each character having their own level with a different tension buildup.

  • With Tails, the level begins in an empty version of Green Hill Zone, then transitions to a burning Angel Island, where Sonic.EXE directly pursues him.
  • Knuckles explores a red-tinged Scrap Brain Zone, the deeper he goes, the more hostile the environment becomes, culminating in an unequal confrontation.
  • Eggman navigates through repeating staircases, the space feeling like an endless loop, before confronting the message “I AM GOD”.

Hidden Paths And Lore Expansion

Sonic.EXE - The Original Game encourages players to go against traditional Sonic routines by running to the left at specific points. Collecting three Rings unlocks the full translation of the poem that appears at the end of the game and activates a secret segment where the player controls Sonic in a static, chaotic space with flashing faces and disjointed messages, before the game locks itself.
